"My work is about noticing.  About appreciating the subtle variations that set things apart from one another . . . the beauty in color schemes and spatial relationships that are born haphazardly.

My paintings begin abstractly and develop into a level of detail that reflects the mood and subject matter of the piece.  I primarily use watercolor and acrylic paints.

Watercolor affords translucent layering and I find that of all painting mediums, it gives me the most flexibility in level of focus and color density.

Meanwhile, I am passionate about the vibrant color and rich textures that can be created with acrylic paint.  It's fast drying nature allows me to layer color quickly without it blending and becoming muddied."
